General Manager Auscamp is looking for an experienced person to lead the company in the delivery of outdoor education experiences and provide outstanding services to our clients. Working alongside the Director, you will be responsible for the day to day management of the company involving all aspects of staffing and program delivery of our Auscamp services. This is a full-time senior management position based in our Melbourne Office. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Oversee, with the Director all aspects of program development, implementation and follow up
  • Administration involving staff recruitment, management and allocation to programs
  • Contribute to decision making and future direction of the company as part of the Company Management Group
  • Attend meetings with current and potential clients
  • Some field-work to ensure successful program delivery will be required
  • General office administration tasks- answer phone, emails and update databases

In the office you will be supported by a number of committed staff members including the Operations Manager and Logistics Manager. Auscamp also has a number of venue and program management staff members to ensure programs are run and maintained at an exceptional level. The direction and management of these staff members will be part of the responsibility of the General Manager. All roles at Auscamp have involvement in the client interface through answering the phone and dealing with general administrative duties. The successful person will have:

  • Extensive experience in the outdoor industry (preferably in a similar role)
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task
  • The ability to work under pressure
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • A passion for the outdoor industry, and for delivering quality outdoor experiences
  • Experience with recruitment and staffing of programs would be an advantage.

Skills and Experience

  • Diploma in Outdoor Recreation* (minimum qualification)
  • Current WWCC or VIT
  • Current First Aid including CPR
  • At least 5 years in the Industry*

  • Soft Skills – Facilitation
  • Rigid Licensing

Other desirable skills and experience:

  • Diploma of Management or higher qualification
  • Diploma of Human Resource Management or higher qualification
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, networking and social media
  • Understanding and application of risk management strategies, assessments and implementation
