As the CEO and Managing director, John has been involved with Auscamp since its inception in 1986…. in fact, he is the inspiration and founder of the company.

John brings many years of experience, passion and expertise to Auscamp. His background is in teaching, and then he headed up the Physical Education, Sport and Outdoor Education departments. He is a bushwalker, rafting guide and sailor. . Over the past 30 years, John has bushwalked extensively throughout Australia as both a participant and a guide.

John understands the needs of schools and ensures that each program Auscamp develops, supports the school’s vision and purpose. John believes that in what we do, it is important to walk the walk. He will work together with you to explore many and varied possibilities for your organisation.

John is also the proud father of 5 children.

Lee Barnett

Lee Barnett

Director of Operations and Staffing

Lee has a Diploma of Outdoor Recreation and a Cert IV in Training & Assessment. He is a qualified instructor and guide in climbing & abseiling, mountain biking, sea kayaking, advanced alpine bushwalking and back country skiing.

Lee has over 25 years of experience and has been instructing in the outdoor sector since the age of eighteen. He is ex- British armed forces where he was the adventure training facilitator and instructed outdoor activities in various countries ranging from the arctic circle of Norway to the desert environment of Turkey. Lee was in active service in Bosnia and Croatia before leaving the army.

Lee is at home and in his happy place when he is climbing or he is in the water. Other highlights of Lee’s career include managing the daily operations, risk assessment/management and staff training of a high class tree top adventure facility in rural Vic.

Lee’s family consists of 2 dogs and a heap of outdoor activity equipment.

Dana Moniz

Operations Manager

Dana has been with Auscamp for 2.5 years and in the Outdoor Industry since 2004.

Throughout her outdoor career she has worked at different camps along the East Coast of Australia and in North America. Dana has been fortunate enough to work in the fall colours of Algonquin park in Canada, trek in world heritage rainforest and abseil down waterfalls.

A highlight of her journey was working with people with special needs for 7 years, running an outdoor program. Dana believes everyone should have the opportunity to experience the great outdoors, no matter their ability.

When Dana’s not working she is chasing after her very active toddlers!

Ari Fisher

Ari Fisher

Logistics Manager

Ari has been with Auscamp since he was a year 8 student on a School Camp.

A change of heart in Ari’s careers plan, Ari decided that he would complete his Bachelor of Business degree at RMIT and look to secure a job in the Education sector. His dreams came true when he was offered a job beginning of 2017.

Ari is involved with the Operations and Logistics in Auscamp and is constantly liaising with our Staff in the field, in the office and our providers and contractors.

Ari works hard to ensure that your camp is equipped with the right equipment, gear and bookings. However, if there’s something wrong, it wasn’t his fault!

You’ll find Ari at Mt Buller on a set of skis or riding his bike along the Yarra River.

Ari is a big believer in being healthy and ensuring everyone’s wellbeing.

Chris Beggs

Chris Beggs

Admin and Program Support

Chris has been at Auscamp part-time since mid-2018 role as Administration and Support Officer and brings work experience in administration, customer service, outdoor recreation and working with young people.

He has a Certificate IV in Outdoor Recreation and completed a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. Chris is passionate about helping young people, the environment and social justice. He believes in the importance of connecting students with the outdoors.

In his spare time, Chris enjoys playing soccer, bike riding and escaping the hustle of the city. Outside of assisting clients, Chris is often seen leaving the Moros in the office chocolate box.

After a hiatus from the Outdoor Industry, Chris hopes to further assist on programs and enable more students to appreciate the Outdoors.
